While the vast majority of GVEA’s power lines are above ground, lines are buried in certain areas. Visual clues that the lines are buried might include a lack of above-ground power lines and the presence of green boxes like the one pictured.
Avoid the risk of electrocution; if you aren’t sure whether or not there are underground power lines where you plan to dig, give GVEA a call at 452-1151. Primary wire locates are free. Please give us at least 24-hour notice – in fact, the more notice, the better.
GVEA has more than 3,100 miles of power line. Only 115 miles, or about four percent, of our power lines are underground.
