Another 1,000 meters restored

12:00pm Update – Crews continued to work throughout the night, with power being restored to another 1,000 meters. This leaves approx. 3,000 meters currently still in the dark.10-1-15 SRc (web sm)

Eleven crews and field hands are currently working in the outlying areas and in neighborhoods throughout Fairbanks and North Pole. We’re also aware of some pockets of members without power down the Parks Hwy.

If you don’t have power, but your neighbors do, please review today’s earlier posting that refers to “Step 5 of the Power Restoration Steps.” You may realize that some repairs need to be made before power can be restored at your location. By getting a jump on any required repairs will only help expedite the restoration of power.

The Red Cross will close both their warming-shelter facilities at 5pm today. The need for these facilities has declined as power continues to be restored (i.e. more resources are available as family and friends once again have power). If the need for warming shelters arises again, then the Red Cross will reconsider reopening facilities.

At no time should someone approach a downed power line or tree making contact with power lines. Those dangerous situations should be reported immediately. Please call 452-1151 to report a tree in a power line.

Suggestion … Protect sensitive equipment by unplugging these items while power is still out. After power is restored, you can plug them back in.
