GVEA’s 2018 Election Results

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 14, 2018, the ballots were tallied for the 2018 Board of Directors election. Judges from GVEA’s Election Committee certified the results, which follows.

District 4:  Incumbent Gary Newman was reelected over challengers Frank Eagle and Rob Wall. Of the 6,077 ballots mailed on May 11, 2018, 999 valid ballots were cast, which constitutes a 16% return. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Frank Eagle:  437 votes / 43.7%
  • Gary Newman:  442 votes / 44.2%
  • Rob Wall: 120 votes / 12%

Of the valid ballots received, 25% were cast electronically.

District 7:  Incumbent director Bill Nordmark was reelected over challenger Brad Benson. Of the 1,132 ballots mailed on May 11, 2018, 226 valid ballots were cast, which constitutes a 20% return. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Brad Benson:  96 votes / 42.5%
  • Bill Nordmark:  130 votes / 57.5%

Of the valid ballots received, 37% were cast electronically.

GVEA’s bylaws state that a minimum of 10% return of valid ballots of the total membership of each voting district is required.

Next year, board seats representing District 5 and District 6 will be up for election, which are currently held by Chris Bunch and John Sloan, respectively.
