February 2 power outage update

At approximately 5:50 p.m., a transmission line fault caused an outage affecting areas north along the Steese Highway, including Chena Hot Springs Road, Skyline Drive and the Elliot Highway. Crews are on their way and have narrowed down the general location of the fault. At this time, the cause is unknown.

We estimate power to be restored in two hours and will post updates as available.

7:27 p.m. update

Power was restored to residents along the Steese Highway north to Goldstream at 7:22 p.m. Residents fed by the Fox substation, beyond Goldstream, are still without power (about 550 members). The outage was caused by a failed insulator near the intersection of McGrath and the Steese Highway which caused us to lose the transmission line from the Golden Valley yard (Zehnder Power Plant).

Crews are working to restore power to the residents beyond Goldstream, but expect it may be up to two more hours. Thank you for your patience.
