Tonight, GVEA’s Election Committee certified election results for two seats on the Golden Valley Board of Directors. Frank Eagle was newly elected to District 4. Director Bill Nordmark was reelected to represent District 7.
Frank Eagle 571 (47%)
Ward Merdes, incumbent 359 (30%)
Valerie Therrien 274 (23%)
Merdes served on GVEA’s board for one three-year term. Eagle, who is a local restaurateur, will be seated at the June 25 board meeting.
Ballots mailed: 1,130
Valid ballots returned: 132
Bill Nordmark, incumbent, ran unopposed. He was appointed to the board in 1995 to fill a vacancy. He currently serves as chairman of the board.
Ballots were mailed May 4, 2012. For the second year in a row, members had the option of returning ballots by mail or electronically. A 10 percent ballot return is required for a quorum.

Mindy Bryan and Ronald Lund were randomly selected as the winners of iPad 2 tablets.
E-voting is gaining popularity. In 2011, 11 percent of members cast their board of director ballot online compared to 17 percent in the recent election.
