Thursday, December 12 @ 10:50 a.m. – Weather Service is indicating winds may pick up tonight through Thursday evening. Members may experience blinking lights due to snow or ice offloading from power lines or trees hitting power lines.
Tuesday, December 10 @ 8 a.m. – All members who have reported outages caused by yesterday’s heavy snowfall are back online. The only outages remaining are a few members on Chena Hot Springs Rd.
Monday, December 9 @ 7:30 p.m. – Thousands of GVEA members have been affected by today’s power outages. Farmers Loop, Steese Highway, Chena Hot Springs Road, North Pole and South Fairbanks were hit the hardest.
This month, GVEA linemen are making a concentrated effort to assess these trees. Our right of way crews, who usually have the winter off, have been called back in to assist.
As of Thursday morning, November 21, all members who reported outages caused by last week’s winter storm were back online. The only outages remaining are members with damaged equipment (service entrances and masts). Once the damaged equipment is repaired, crews will reconnect these members.
