Are you prepared for stormy weather?

Lots of snow (and heavy snow at that) has caused some recloser action in GVEA’s service territory. Recloser actions happen when snow offloads from the power lines causing them to slap together. Recloser actions can cause your lights to blink. They can also cause your digital clocks to blink and need to be reset.

GVEA dispatchers are on call 24/7. Pictured is Jerimiah Johnson, dispatcher.

As the snow load increases, tree branches may become heavy and lean onto power lines. Wind can cause trees to fall into power lines. If you see a tree in the line, stay back and call GVEA at 452-1151.

Hold on tight. Another storm is expected to blow into town. Are you prepared? Check out the outage preparedness kit and backup generator information.

Outage information can be found at gvea.com/outages or on our Facebook page.
